PLE- Physical Literacy Matters

Oide Primary PE Team are delighted to continue to offer the next phase of Physical Literacy training for primary schools – Physical Literacy Matters.

This Professional Learning Experience (PLE) is designed to improve teachers’ confidence and competence in the teaching of Physical Literacy. Developing physical literacy can lead to improved participation in the PE lesson and in physical activity within and outside the school setting. Physical literacy can therefore be considered as a goal or outcome of a high-quality PE programme. This full day PLE will demonstrate how the ‘Move Well, Move Often’ physical literacy resource can support teachers to teach a progressive, child-centred programme that engages every child in PE. Throughout the day participants will explore a variety of easily implemented practical strategies to develop pupils' physical literacy. Physical Literacy Matters PLE combines elements of prior physical literacy professional development yet is suitable to participants who may or may not have attended previously.

Two teachers per school are invited to attend. The Department of Education will provide substitute cover, where required.

This PLE is now open for registration. You can register here. You can search for keyword 'Physical Literacy Matters' and choose Primary sector. Please see the attached flyer detailing the event.

We look forward to meeting you at one of our events.
