“Supporting a newly qualified teacher during Droichead is always a collaborative process.” (Teaching Council, 2017, p.5)
The Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) and the Professional Support Team (PST) are encouraged to take every opportunity to discuss issues and challenges as they arise. PSTs offer a range of supports that enable the NQT to address those challenges and learn from them. Additional support, advice and guidance is available from Oide’s Droichead Induction Division via its school support service, and some additional time to facilitate this may be of value. The more comprehensive the support offered, and the greater the degree of open engagement by those involved, the better for the NQT.
