Collaborative 1: Four Freedoms. One Europe

Overview of Collaborative 1:

Collaborative 1 provided teachers of Leaving Certificate Geography with the opportunity to build meaningful professional connections and engage in rich discussions about effective approaches to implementing the specification in their classrooms. The session supported teachers in deepening their own professional learning through constructive collaborative practice, with a clear focus on enhancing student learning.

Participants also explored the opportunities and challenges presented by the European Union’s Four Freedoms, using a range of methodologies and resources to strengthen both their subject knowledge and their classroom practice.

This section contains the professional learning materials and supporting resources used during Collaborative 1. The materials and resources will further support the professional learning of colleagues at school level, and of those teachers who are new to the subject.

Using the Flipped Classroom – Webinar

Using the Flipped Classroom Model to support active student engagement in the Geography classroom

Overview of Webinar:

This workshop examined the concept of the Flipped Classroom, a blended learning model, where students are introduced to new concepts or content (video/podcasts/text) at home and where the classroom time is flipped allowing students to practice and apply their understanding through teacher-led or peer-led discussion, debate, and structured activities.

Geographical Investigation – Workshop

Geographical Investigation of Lugduff Brook, Glendalough.

Overview of Workshop:

This workshop provided Geography teachers with an opportunity to understand the importance of the Geographical Investigation in a fluvial environment, making practical connections between rivers, the physical environment and the transferability of skills to other areas in the senior cycle curriculum.

This StoryMap contains supportive materials on all stages of the Geographical Investigation process. it also contains links to a variety of supportive resources and interactive maps that can be used by students to examine any suitable site as part if preparation for a Geographical Investigation.
