This introductory webinar for school leaders and Transition Year (TY) Coordinators will explore the new TY Programme Statement, identifying planning opportunities and preparing school leaders and TY Coordinators for their next steps during the 2024 / 2025 school year. The webinar will include contributions from a school leader and TY Coordinator on their experiences of working with the new TYPS in their school contexts.

Future Leaders Transition Year Programme

The “Future Leaders Transition Year Programme” is a joint initiative from the GAA and Oide, the support service for teachers and school leaders. It is a cross-curricular programme comprising of a series of modules designed to encourage maturity, initiative, responsibility and leadership skills in pupils. The Programme gives pupils the knowledge and skills to support all roles required in the effective staging of Gaelic Games. As part of the Programme students are challenged to organise and run both on-field and off-field events for younger students.

Teaching Online Safety in the Post-Primary SPHE Classroom

This course aims to support you in teaching online safety in your classroom by providing you with skills, confidence and resources. It will enable you to raise awareness of and prevent potentially harmful online behaviour by your students through your implementation of the SPHE curriculum at Junior Cycle, TY and Senior Cycle levels. The content of this course is in line with the revised SPHE curriculum.

You will use and adapt free Webwise resources that engage students on topics that are relevant to their lives and important to their wellbeing.

Webwise resources featured in this course deal with topics such as sharing inappropriate images, online harassment and developing more positive relationships with each other.

The course was developed by Oide Technology in Education in collaboration with our Webwise team.
