The focus of this PLE is to explore the daily lives of people from ancient Greek and Roman societies while fostering critical thinking and learner agency through enquiry based learning and effective research. Session 1 considers how to enhance learner agency in the Classics classroom, Session 2 further expands on developing learner agency through a series of enquiry based learning activities of ancient source materials from Pompeii, analysing evidence and building narratives through effective questioning. Session 3 emphasises the importance and role of exploring the role of formative feedback in developing learner agency. Overview of PLE: Enhancing Student Engagement with Ancient Figures, Developing Success Criteria and Digital Content in Junior Cycle Classics
The focus of this PLE is to explore how to enhance student engagement with ancient figures, develop success criteria and digital content in Junior Cycle Classics. Session 1 considers strategies to enhance student engagement with influential people from the ancient world and the role of audio and visual stimuli in the Classics Classroom. Session 2 explores the importance of developing learning intentions and success criteria in the classroom while having an opportunity to discuss learning from samples of student work. A hands-on approach is taken in session 3 with developing digital content using storytelling and digital technologies.
