This webinar was designed in collaboration with the State Examinations Commission, the NCCA and the Department of Education to support teachers with the sample examination papers for the new Ancient Greek and Latin Specifications.

Exploring the strands of study to create meaningful student-centred learning experiences
This Professional Learning Event on exploring the strands of study was the second in a series of supports on the new Classical Languages Specifications for Ancient Greek and Latin at Senior Cycle. This face-to-face engagement explored both Ancient Greek and Latin specifications, outlining senior cycle redevelopment, key competencies, exploring the strands of study and creating meaningful learning experiences and opportunities for students, while also affording the opportunity to teachers to discuss and share good practice on how best to prepare for the introduction of both subjects to schools in September 2025.

An Exploration of the Classical Language Specifications Ancient Greek and Latin
The focus of this PLE is centred on exploring all aspects of both Classical Languages specifications – Ancient Greek and Latin. The PLE is divided into four parts each giving an overview of the specifications key components, including general context and overview of senior cycle redevelopment, senior cycle key competencies and teaching and learning, exploring the the strands of study and assessment for certification components.
